Wayne County United Academy Program

Our academy program is designed to introduce the game of soccer in a fun environment.  Its a step above rec soccer and the practices are geared more to the developmental side of a player rather than focusing on winning.  This philosophy of the academy program is  emphasized in every practice and match. 

The academy coaching staff are specifically selected and trained to provide the instruction for the introduction to select soccer conducive to learning and fun.   In the academy setting, its the perfect time to teach young players the fundamentals they need for soccer. Development of attacking, defending, spacial awareness are also taught with less emphasis but are developed through games and scrimmages. The academy uses statewide festivals with other academies  and games are held, but scores and records are not kept.  

The most important aspect of any academy program is that the psychology of young players must be focused on the enjoyment of the sport.

Wayne County United Classic Program

Our Classic program is aimed at players wanting to play at the most competitive level of highest league play in North Carolina.  The classic program is U11-U18 for both boys and girls.  The classic level of soccer is reserved for the most committed young players of the sport.  Our classic players and coaching staff will demonstrate the highest level of commitment to skills, fitness, work ethic and sportsmanship.   Both players and coaches are asked to exhibit dedication to the club, their team and their own soccer development.  

Tryouts for the classic level teams are held annually in May.  IF A PLAYER MAKES AND ACCEPTS A SPOT ON A WCUSC CLASSIC TEAM, IT IS EXPECTED THAT THE PLAYER WILL ATTEND ALL TEAM FUNCTIONS WHEN POSSIBLE.  There are exceptions that occur, most importantly school matters and can be handled within the team.    

For each classic level team they will have two practices a week minimum, with league play games on the weekend.  Added on to the classic season will be 1-2 tournaments.   Classic players are challenged each week by playing against the best players in their age group. Playing against better teams will only improve the players and the team effort.

Wayne County United Recreation Program

WCUSC is part of NCYSA's Recreation Program. our clubs Rec program has grown tremendously over the past few years. Parents frequently tell us that WCUSc has the best Rec Soccer Program in Wayne County and in partnership with Goldsboro Parks & Recreation. Recreation soccer is played n the Fall and Spring seasons and offers a fun environment for introductory to mid-level play for ages 4 to 15. Each team practices once per week and plays 1-2 games per week.  All our Recreation soccer games are played at the Bryan Multi-Sport Complex. Sign-ups are held before each season and tryouts  are not necessary. Our club does impose a participation rule that strives to give each player equal playing time.
